SERVPRO initially started as a painting business in Sacramento, California, in 1967, under Ted and Doris Issacson. The couple soon evolved the company - with their knowledge and background in cleaning and restoration - into a prominent cleaning and damage-restoration franchise. 

In 1988, the SERVPRO (with 647 franchises) relocated its corporate headquarters from Sacramento to Gallatin, Tennessee, to make themselves within reach of 50% of the U.S. population. The company's new headquarters became a significant contributor to its success; In 1991, the Nashville Business Journal named SERVPRO Industries, LLC, the Small Business of the Year. The company moved ahead with the same monumental growth, thus selling the 1000th franchise in 2002.
